Poetry of the Hare
Hare went to find, connections that
He’d fostered in the past;
In Asia he had travelled much
And memories held fast.
With Shadow puppets he would find
Such stories that were held;
As they had started to renew
Their past they were impelled.
For far too long they had suppressed
Their stories and their past;
But now they started standing tall
And they’ve stood up at last.
Hare look around and what he saw
And mused on what was shown;
The countries that have thrown the yoke
They fought and now they’ve grown.
So many countries that were held
In Colonisers fists;
Have thrown the yoke of oppressed folk
Those times they do not miss.
And Hare who visits these old lands
Epiphany has hit;
He sees the past they have thrown off
They miss it not one bit.
