Into the West

This whole series came from the one picture at the end, and was the culmination of a series of images around the theme, entering the West. The West holds an amazing hold on our Psyche, mainly I suppose because we refer ourselves as Westerners, as opposed to Easterners.

We were making a trip to the land of the Boabs in 2006, and were approaching Wyndham at the time. We were both reading Sally Vickers brilliant novel, ‘The other side of you’, and this image came as a result of the ingestion of that novel upon both of us.

Of course, erudition came as usual way after the fact, but I was seeking the beloved, and I was looking outside the car perhaps too much. It was a lot closer to me than I realised. Mind you, it always is.
